Techniques To Spot Diabetes Signs And Get Help As Soon As Possible

By Mark Spielmanz

Diabetes is a condition where one suffers from high blood sugar because the body cannot produce insulin or the cells are not responding to insulin. Many people suffer from this condition and are oblivious of the diabetes signs that would help them diagnose the condition. The signs are spread out in the phases of the conditions with most of them experienced in the early stages.

One of the earliest sign is polyuria, a condition characterized by frequent urination. Patients will feel the urge to empty their bladder. The kidney will be trying to remove as much water from the body and therefore the bladder will require emptying more often. This condition is often coupled with polydipsia, a condition of constant thirst. However, one may experience one condition in the absence of the other.

There is sudden weight loss for no apparent reason. The body loses of muscle tissue to energy production to feed the energy starved cells. With this condition, body cells cannot access glucose in the blood supplied through ingested food. This takes toll on the victim fast and is easily recognizable.

If you are experiencing fatigue even when resting and you are felling wasted all the time, it could be a sign of diabetes. Body cells are deficient of the vital glucose that is their sole source of energy. The result is inactivity and feeling extremely strained when one engages even in a simple activity.

High blood sugars do not augur well with the nervous system. Nerve ends attached to body tissues lose their sensation when the tissues are dehydrated. When the blood sugars remain high for a period of time, the effect extends to the rest of the nervous system affecting the sensitivity of limbs and other parts to the feelings of touch and pain.

Blurred vision is another sign of the illness. Due to the high concentration of glucose in the blood, the body is forced to extract water from tissues including the eyes. The eyes will look tired and diminish deep into their sockets.

Frequent infections, sores cuts and bruises that often worsen than is normal and take long to heal spell out the possibility of a diabetic condition. Some skin rushes are not a result of infections but rather lack of skin moisture as the body loses water to the condition. The extreme of this sign is skin ulcers and wounds that eat away the tissues around the infection.

Women who have not attained menopause and are missing their periods not from other causes should suspect diabetes. The high blood sugar levels leads to hormonal imbalances affecting their reproductive cycle.

Other minor diabetes signs include headaches, drowsiness, low energy, abdominal pains and infections such as athlete's feet. The presence of any of these should be taken to suggest the presence of diabetes either in the early or in the advancing stage. This condition is manageable in the long run. Therefore, it is important to seek treatment as soon as possible if you suspect that you have the symptoms.
