By Aaron Hills

Though puppies may need a little more extra food, it is always recommended that you feed them the stated amount as shown on the label. This will protect them from been underfed and overfed.

You must undertake to increase their exercises if you increase their food intake. This will keep them healthy and fit and protect them from sicknesses like heart problems, respiratory and muscular problems. There will also be able to reduce their weight to a normal level.

Feeding puppies the right amount of food is the best way to go. This prevents obesity and all its related problems. The best trick is to increase their food as they grow lean and are underfed for at two weeks to help them increase their weight levels. Maintain the food quantity when they reach a desirable and healthy level. Likewise reduce their food as they become obese until they reach a normal level.

Try to exercise them some more to build up their immune systems. A healthy puppy will mostly be disease free and fit. It will not catch common sicknesses from its playmates.

A dog's temperature must be between 99.5 and 102.5 degrees. When trying to get dogs to reduce their weight special care must be taken so that they don't exceed or go below this temperature. The checking of their temperature must be done two to three times a week.

The thermometer when lubricated with petroleum jelly or mineral oil can then be moved half way into the rectal of the dog. The vet is always willing to show you how to do this so you can always consult them.

Report to the vet when the temperature is above what it should be. The temperature can be verified after three minutes of insertion in the dog.

Don't stick an oral thermometer and expect the right temperature you should have got with the rectal one.
