Keeping A Pair Of Healthy Eyes

The eyes are the windows of the soul. They are God's precious gifts to us because without them we will not be able to enjoy the beauty of creation. If you are blessed with two healthy eyes, make sure that you take good care of them. Here are few effortless things you can do in maintaining a better vision.

Just like the rest of our bodily organs, our eyes need essential nutrients from foods in order to stay healthy. Get as much vitamin A and omega-3 fatty acids as you can from fresh fruits and vegetables such as carrots, squash and spinach. Eating fish regularly can also help you keep your eyes moisturized for better vision.

Sun protections are not only good for the skin but for the eyes as well. Wear gears that will prevent the sun from damaging your eyes such as eyeglasses, hats and caps. Bring along an umbrella as well. Almost 50 percent of UV rays are blocked by wearing these protective gears.

When working on the carpentry, make sure you wear goggles to protect your eyes from tiny debris that may cause abrasions in your cornea. Goggles are also important when going swimming. Most pools contain chemicals that are harmful to the eyes such as chlorine.

The glare from your television and computer monitor can prove harmful to the eyes especially if you have an existing eye disorder. To avoid eye strain, don't spend too much time watching TV or using the computer. If you can't avoid it, at least pause from what you are doing every half an hour to focus your eyes on other objects.

Keep your eyes healthy through regular exercise. 15 to 30 minutes brisk walking has proven to be effective among glaucoma patients. According to one study, spending 15 minutes every day exercising or simply brisk walking can reduce the risk of glaucoma.

Since good vision is essential for a quality kind of life, make sure you don't take your eyes? health for granted. Practice safety measures to guard your eyes from potential injury. Also, maintain a healthy lifestyle to prevent common eye disorders and diseases.
